HOME-BASED TRAINING

Introduction

The International Institute of Travel has specialized in travel and tourism training since its inception in 1983. Today it has grown into one of Canada’s accredited network of private vocational schools specializing in travel and tourism. The Institute is recognized as an industry leader in the field of travel and tourism education. The Institute’s graduates are working in a diverse range of careers in travel and tourism internationally.

The travel industry is a high growth industry, with an ongoing need for properly trained staff. IIT has now responded to numerous inquiries and has developed a Home-Based Training where you will be able to learn the skills needed to become a part of this exciting industry.

Who can enroll?

The Home-Based Training is open to anyone who is either over 18 and a high school graduate, or a mature student over 18 and out of school for at least one year. Since the language of instruction is in English, you should have a good understanding of the English language. The course will provide an introduction to all facets of the tourism industry and is therefore appropriate to students seeking training at an entry level.

How the course is completed

The Home-Based Training will be completed in 4 weeks at IIT Location. A final examination will be applied at the end of the course.

Students who successfully complete the certificate program will receive the Institute’s valued Home-Based Certificate.

What does the Certificate course cover?

The Home-Based Training includes the following:

  • PRODUCT: Emphasis is placed on the making reservations, handling bookings, price calculations, the use of timetables, travel guides, brochures and industry handbooks, suppliers, consolidators, online webbooking, etc.

  • SALES: Introduction to Sales, Knowledge of Client, Product & Competition, Stage of Selling, Communication, Use of Sales Arguments, Selling Points, Behaviour Analysis, Marketing, and Social Media Marketing.

  • TICO: TICO's Role in the Travel Industry, Travel and the Law, Before & After the client travels, Ontario Compensation fund, Registration Requirements, Financial and Record-Keeping Requirements, Complaints, Investigations and Offences, and Invoicing the client Agents obligation.
