This programme
is endorsed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
INTRODUCTION
The
International Institute of Travel offers an International Travel
and Tourism Diploma programme, based on a curriculum which has
been endorsed by I.A.T.A., the International Air Transport Association,
an organization consisting of most of the world's major airlines
(offered only at certain locations, which are I.A.T.A approved
training centers). Please consult with your student counsellor.
International
Travel and Tourism Diploma Programme
Upon
completion of this programme you will have gained the necessary
knowledge and skills required to pursue a variety of positions
in the Travel and Tourism industry anywhere in the world. This
programme will particularly suit those individuals who seek an
international career in the Travel Industry, and it will be especially
useful for foreign students who may wish to make use of their
training in their countries of origin. It will also be ideal for
individuals who wish to work in I.A.T.A accredited travel agencies
and for those who sell international air transportation on behalf
of I.A.T.A's member airlines.
The
programme is designed to include all information, books and materials
needed to complete the course requirements for the IATA Foundation
Course. You will also receive the Institute's own Domestic Ticketing
textbook plus computer reservations training in our computer lab.
You will also receive I.A.T.A.'s own text materials and you will
be permitted to write the I.A.T.A/U.F.T.A.A. examination, which
is held in March and September each year (exact dates and local
testing locations will be determined by I.A.T.A.). Students who
pass this examination will also receive an I.A.T.A/U.F.T.A.A.
Diploma in addition to IIT's International Travel and Tourism
Diploma. The I.A.T.A/U.F.T.A.A. Foundation Diploma is recognized
worldwide.

the role of regional and national organizations.
Geography
in Travel Planning - The importance of geography, reading
& utilizing maps, city and airport codes, planning basic itinerary
in sequence, time zones & elapsed travel times, local currencies,
and modes of transport in various regions.
Travel
Formalities - Types of passports, visas & other travel
documents, health & preventative measures, taxes & interpreting
customs & currency information, different forms of payment,
travel insurance, auxiliary services & information provided,
and a travel agent's responsibilities relating to documents &
providing up to date information.
Land
Transport (Rail) - Using the Thomas Cook Timetables, finding
direct trains, putting together legs of a journey requiring a
change of trains, train service in different countries, basic
info about luxury and special trains, and planning a train journey.

Transport - (Car and Camper) - The car rental industry, info
required to reserve a car. helpful hints, the camper van industry.
Hotels
- Several types, evaluating features & recommending best choice,
terminology, using printed & electronic resource info, rate
structures & quoting rates, booking rooms & types of vouchers,
terms & conditions.
Water
Transport (Ferry) - Types of ferry services & types of
vessels used, selecting a ferry, pricing, booking, ticketing &
