TRAVEL & TOURISM (E-LEARNING)
DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

Introduction

The International Institute of Travel has specialized in travel and tourism training since its inception in1983. Today it has grown into one of Canada’s accredited network of private vocational schools specializing in travel and tourism. The Institute is recognized as an industry leader in the field of travel and tourism education, and it offers courses approved by the International Air Transport Association, IATA, and the American Hotel & Motel Association and C.I.T.C. (not all programmes are available at every location of the Institute). The Institute’s graduates are working ina diverse range of careers in travel and tourism internationally.

The travel industry is a high growth industry, with an ongoing need for properly trained staff, and yet the Institute has recognized that not all students are in a position to attend its classroom-based programme. The Institute has now therefore responded to numerous inquiries and has developed a home-based e-learning programme for persons not located close to one of our facilities, or who are otherwise unable to enroll for classroom training. If you enroll in our e-learning programme, you too can now learn the skills needed to become a part of this exciting industry.

Who can enroll?

The e-learning programme is open to anyone who is either over 18 and a high school graduate, or a mature student over 18 and out of school for at least one year. Since the language of instruction is in English, you should have a good understanding of the English language. The course will provide an introduction to all facets of the tourism industry and is therefore appropriate to students seeking training at an entry level.

How the course is completed

You will receive via the internet or by mail a full kit containing a complete set of the Institute’s own textbooks, Computer Reservations Training CD-ROM, lesson plans, examinations, student handbook, etc. You then work through the five course modules at your own pace. A full year given to complete all of the modules. As each module is finished you will submit a completed exam for marking. It is that simple!

A passing grade is 70% in each of the five courses. Students who successfully complete all modules will receive the Institute’s valued Travel and Tourism Diploma, the key to your future success in the field of travel and tourism. Honours standing requires a 90% average. Individual course modules can also be studied, as a Certificate programme.
